PHA Grand Lodges
A Prince Hall Affiliated Grand Lodge is the supreme Masonic authority within its jurisdiction, usually a single state. More than forty of them, each tracing its lineage to African Lodge No. 459, form the Prince Hall Affiliated family.
- Sovereign. Each Grand Lodge writes its own laws, elects its own Grand Master, and charters and governs its own lodges.
- United. All keep the same Landmarks of Masonry, and that shared adherence is the basis of mutual recognition among them.
- Governed in Session. Each meets in an Annual Communication, where its lodges are represented, laws are made, and officers are elected.
- Respectful of Boundaries. No Grand Lodge interferes in the affairs of another, and visitors follow the laws of the jurisdiction they visit.
